Starting with the S2 app that was released last year, Sonos now supports a bit depth of up to 24 and a sample rate of up to 48, so if you're going to convert from higher res flacs, then 24/48 is the max Sonos supports (I think those best practices you linked to are out of date). Has anyone had luck wringing higher bitrates out of FLACs from BandCamp or other hi-res sources using different settings on this or another application? Any better luck with other high-quality formats available from BandCamp (ALAC, AIFF, WAV)? I use FLAC because of better compression and compatibility (or at least that's what I read) but am not married to it. I'm using these DSP Effects on dBpoweramp: Bit Depth=16bit (per best practices, linked above), Triangular Dither Resample=48000 Hz (again, per best practices). I also know I can add BandCamp as a service and listen to my purchases there that way, but like playing from my own server. I know, I probably will never hear the difference, but it would be nice to get as close to that 1536kbps number as possible. It generated new FLACs that will play on my system, and sound great, but the bitrate is now half what Sonos will support in FLAC format.
Convert flac to wav best settings bitrate sample rate software#
I did find a workaround, I'm just not sure it's the best one: I ran one too-high-bitrate album through dBpoweramp while following the guidelines here as best I could while not knowing my way around that software so well. I've been buying and downloading music in FLAC format from BandCamp, and sometimes the versions they sell have bitrates beyond what Sonos will support (though sometimes not).
Hi group, I'm looking for the best solution for processing high-bitrate FLACs so they play on my system.
